There is definitely something very magical about watching a broody mom with her babies. There is 3 out of 4 eggs. Today if the 4th egg isn't hatch I'll take it away.

I'm in awe. She is the gentlest momma. She tucks them under, snuggles them and then a little head peeks out her backside. I sat there for an hour yesterday just watching her dedication to her adopted children.

One climbs all over her and she crouches down so it's easier for the chick to climb up. The best chicken tv I've ever watched!!

Hatchery rocks. I'm not sure we have much to worry about in the broody department with them. I've heard 2nd year chances are better, but it's not as likely with hatchery rocks.

Nice Sandy. Proud mama! We have a hen sitting on 6 eggs in the coop for a little over a week now. Looking forward to the new experience.

I had 2 smaller than the rest ameraucanas so I slipped them to broody mom. Those babies are soooooo happy right now. They instinctively went to her when she called and went under her. She looked at them and gave them a cluckle, amazing to me that they were hatched in an incubator yet knew right away they won the lottery.
