Serious Gal but has poop on her egg

She has 10 eggs under her. I honestly don't even know how that happens. Eggs are collected daily, she would steal eggs and roll them to the pen and hide them, but not very well becaus I found them every day. Or so I thought. I don't have 7 silkies laying yet so she had to be hiding them. Impressive.

If the eggs cooled down a bit during incubation , but still continued developing, the hatch may be delayed 2-3 days, don't give up yet!

That was what I was thinking too: If she is sitting on 10 eggs, especially if they are standard size chicken eggs, that is quite a large clutch of eggs for a silkie sized hen to keep rotated and evenly heated, so hatch day a day or two later would not be unusual.

Nope they are all Silkie eggs.

Nothing this morning. I'm sure hoping by Saturday we'll have some chicks. This is like some form of suspense torture!

To bring it all in to perspective for you, ;) I have been hatching chicks using an incubator for approximately 10 years and do 2-3 hatches a year.
EVERY year, when the day 18, 19, 20, 21 roll around, i spent embarrassing amount of time staring at the eggs doing absolutely nothing, completely convinced I will never hatch another chick. Then of course the chicks hatch......and the next batch, EXACTLY the same thing again!!!! :)
I have even resorted to cheating for the last couple years and up the temperature a smidgen so the first pip happens on day 20, thus saving myself one excruciating day. ;)
On the other hand quite happy to hand the job over to a broody, once I give her the optimum environment, she is in charge of that hatch. :)

Thanks OC. When I woke this morning and walked in my haze to her I swore never again a broody would be allowed lol. But after a cup of coffee I was back to letting her determine her ETA.

But it's soooooooo tempting to put a chair there and watch the clock LOL!!!

The first time I had a broody, my first year with chickens too so not expected, I spent hours face down in the grass staring at her little enclosure!
