Fondue is in labour
Fondue, my reliable broody is hatching. She is a dedicated mom, raises three broods a year. She is named Fondue because she was like another hen we had called Fawn, so she got named Fawn Two which was shortened to Fondue. After the neighbors dog bit off her tail, we thought about changing her name to Old Maid or Spinster because she had no tail, but we stayed with Fondue.
She set in a nest box this time, so I marked the eggs with a felt pen so later contributions by her kids or friends could be removed, Every day I lift her up and she screams at me while I remove any extras. Yesterday she really screamed as I approached, and when I lifted her up, there was two little fluffies. I was surprised, I hadn't marked the dates and didn't think it was for a week or so. Bu last eve, there was another one, five eggs still to go.
So just having coffee and getting ready to face the day, will go out and see whats what soon and shall report in to the throngs waiting for an update. The pic is of her with a previous bunch.

Three it is, and that will be fine, Fondue is happy and so am I. Not sure what was up with the other 5 but the weren't viable. I pitched them at the fence, no sign of part developed chick.
