Eggs have been collected ~ will be setting up bator over the weekend.
I'm SO excited & SO wishing for no more ice storm power failures.

I think I have 4, maybe 5 eggs from Valentino.
( only 1 hen laying ~ about 1 every other day )

About a dozen eggs from my pretty Partridge silkies.
"Moon Doggie" Partridge roo also has "Millie" the Blue SG I bought from you a couple of years ago.
I'm excited to see a few cute little SGs running around.

I "might" also put in a few eggs from my EE roo & my black Naked Neck hen.
That's the crazy thing....when an obsession starts, you just can't get rid of it.
So I'm gonna run with it till I find a new addiction.

I want to hatch some chicks so I know what I "NEED" to buy @ Mount Forest LOL

Our hydro is still out, fortunately the generator is running all essentials, brooders incubators freezers and wifi lol

ACKKKK still can't regulate damn temp!
Has to be constant before I can add the water....then wait for it to stabilize.
Well just gives me more time to collect eggs, so I should shut up now (*o*)

how long has it been running? what kind of incubator is it? so my theory in setting the temperature is to aim for the average temp. it wont fully stabilize because its constantly raising and lowering. but once the eggs are put in they will act ad a heat sync. I made a excel spreedsheet to help with figuring this all out. its available for download if you want to take a look in the incubation forum.

also whats your relative humidity? you may not need to add a whole lot of water but I like to add the water if need be and have it set at the right RH before putting eggs in. I aim for 45 for the duration of incubation and hardly add any water. then raise it to 60 for lockdown.

instructions say once temp has been 99.5 for a day then add 1 cup warm water.
Once temp goes back to 99.5 & stabilizes for 3+ hours, then add eggs.
Only have to add water when almost gone, but don't need to add otherwise.

Current humidity is 30 ~ temp is 90 to 95 but mornings usually 87ish
Just put bator inside large cardboard box to prevent draft.
( read this tip on web which worked for the same problem )

oh yeah thats way to low.... any chance the thermometers are wrong? dont trust the digital read out on the incubator. cross check it with another or a few more. haha I had like 5 in my last incubator I built until i settled on the oldest one I have... its a digital one for fish tanks, iv had it for 20 years. LOL. it takes a AAA battery, not the watch type.

It should take only couple of hours for an empty incubator to reach desired temperature.
There must be a way to make an adjustment to the temperature setting?
Like Al said, don't trust the incubator readout, double check the actual temperature inside the incubator.
I just checked the link Al posted, they seem to be spending more time shooting down styrofoam incubators then giving actual helpful tips for use of their model, odd way of marketing?
