OMGAWD ~ incubator time is Almost here!

Post by Poultryprincess » Tue Mar 29, 2016 6:54 pm

Came home from work Today & damn temp had dropped to low 70's!!!!
I had put entire unit in large cardboard box a few days ago.
( also had watched the video from Crackle / Brower )
Have TWO thermometers going.

SOOOOOOOOOOOO
Decided enough was enough!!!!
This afternoon I changed the bottom component "back" to the original one I purchased.
( they had sent me a new one because of the recall ~ some had caught fire after folks wrapped console with towels
Guess they were trying to prevent heat loss )

It went to 99.5 almost immediately & has stayed there.
I added the warm water & in less than an hour it stabilized again to 99.5
It has been almost 5 hours & temp hasn't moved from 99.5 - FINGERS CROSSED!
"IF" after work tomorrow it is still holding the temp, then I'm feeling like it will work.

In the meantime I have read all the Incubator suggestions - Fabulous info!!!!
The Hovabators are not in stock, but I'm going to look all the specs over & pick my poison.
THANXXXXXXXX for ALL your Help everyone (*o*)

YES thegawd ~ that is the unit I have...it is pretty good except for the heat loss (*o*)
To be fair, I'm sure this old house is partly to blame.
Built in 1870 & even with many renovations, it is still drafty.
