Thanks ladies! The official count is 26! WOOOOOHOOOOO! A couple didn't make it out of the egg, one was splayed really bad and 2 have not pipped. I'm going to leave the 2 that didn't hatch another day and then shut the hatcher down.

26/31, an 84% hatch rate is pretty darn outstanding! We're very happy! HECK YES! We now have a flock of quail after 8 or so years.

LOL 😆 NP KB! Thanks!

Well when I came back to the forum and saw how slow its been I decided to do my part to help keep it going.

After loosing my expensive birds, 7 years ago I couldn't really get back into it. We had a flock of rsl's given to us, saved from going to become wolf food, was all the birds we had for like 4 or 5 years, well them, our goose and our rabbits. Eventually we got back into the game and figured I should share the experience.

That's a very respectable hatch rate, @thegawd ! Quail babies are so stinkin' cute!

Heres an update on the turkeys and quail, they are all growing like crazy! The turkeys were let out of the brooder today. I have a grid that I use to keep most of the chickens out so the turkeys can still be fed the proper food. Hopefully they will continue to use it because I think it will be hard to keep everything else out of dog crate that would allow the turkeys in. This works for chickens. We will likely have to catch them and put them in for feed, time will tell but turkeys are not known for being very smart. Haha!

My goodness the quail are growing so fast! We have so many different colors its pretty cool!

WOW! A little after 5 weeks our quail have started laying! Already! I think this says alot about masterfeeds 28% turkey/gamebird stater! I weighed a couple of them a week or so ago and they were almost 1 Lb! Gage is eating them for lunch!

Sooooo pumped!
