@Happy, it does take a bit of restraint, for sure. ;-)

Day 3 of quail egg incubation. They were set Monday morning so I'm going to call it day 3. Lol. 14 more days to go. Got the humidity figured out in the incubator finally and its consistent 45% RH. I had to come up with a different size water dish and slightly place it into one of the air ducts. Man I hope these are real Jumbos but the seller does not claim them to be. The egg size would suggest they are however. Fingers crossed!

And the turkeys! Eating and growing like crazy! They are quickly outgrowing the bird cage they are in. They are doing awesome! CHEERS!

I see you're using the Dollarama silicone bottom ice cube trays as your egg trays ... :hi5:
We use those in a DIY rack to store our eggs on our counter (or in the fridge when it gets really humid in the summer months.
Good luck with your hatch! Oh, don't be too surprised if they start hatching early. We always keep our incubator running for about 48 hours after day 18, in case of late-comers. There are typically one or two at least, in our experience. I wouldn't worry too much about humidity until lockdown: that's when it's really important. Just try to keep the temp stable and you'll be golden.

Thanks Jaye!

I've been using the ice cube trays since the beginning, way back when I still lived in the city. They are perfect but I cut the silicon bottom off. They work so well that I have never considered buying real quail egg trays. Haha.

Yeah my incubators are homemade from many years ago. They work awesome and I haven't touched the heat settings at all.

I had humidity problems with the chicken eggs I was trying to hatch. Of course we had lots of rain and mud 6 weeks ago and the humidity was a bit high. Then too low, then too high... I needed a middle sized tray and finally found one which is perfect for this extremely dry, low humidity we have going on right now. Our duck pond has almost dried up. But now the humidity is holding perfect at 45 RH.

Fingers crossed!

Last group of chicks have been removed from the brooder and quickly settled in. This makes me so happy. And the turkeys are now in the big brooder.
