Clearly, I can't count! My 1 doz isn't finished yet...lol
so my first hatch is going to be set January 1st..anyone want to jump into a hatch-along ?
I have a couple new cockerals, a Blue Cream Splash Silkie and a Buff Partridge. Right now they are in the same pen. So this is a fun hatch for me. I'm going to try and put as many of each silkie and showgirl eggs in the incubator.
Hatch-Along with Kbr42....
As is my tradition, I go 'dry' in January and have to fill my time somehow.....what better way than to fret over an incubator...

Re: 2022 Hatching and Incubation plans thread.
hi folks
I am planning to hatch out more Welsummers come spring...I currently have 3 bloodlines of hens on hand and an unrelated Rooster so a good mix. The pullets I have are nowhere near maturity but the older hens are only 2-3 yeaes old and laying well (when they aren't in moult as they are at the moment)...have had some interest in hatching eggs but i am not going to get into the shipping issue...so.it will be eastern Ontario only..or maybe just sell chicks
also, I need to refresh the Barred rock flock so.if anyone has a.line on some non hatchery PBRs I wpukd appreciate the info...thanks a bunch

If you don't plant the tree, you will never have the fruit...

@TomK Care to share your experience with the Welsummers (i.e. characteristics/pros/cons etc). At first glance look very interesting for a beginning homesteader and looking for a starter set- either eggs or chicks.... Currently evaluating Canadian Bresse, MG, Easter Eggers, and hope to find *somewhere!* CouCou de Malines and Icelandics...
Thanks in advance.

Incubator is full (20 ) eggs. It's day 5 of incubation. I peaked through the window with a flashlight and their is development in some of the eggs I could see
I'm totally surprised by this little incubator. Not only is it so quiet you have to check to see if it's running, the thing is bang on.
I have a gauge in the incubator to measure temperature and humidity and they match exactly what the sensors on the incubator says. First time ever!
I'll update again on January 21th!

@kbr42 I read this in a review. "Hatches well but has a huge design flaw. Chicks can and will get their beaks cut by the fan." Link to review is below https://www.mannapro.com/poultry/chicke ... -incubator I only read it once, so maybe a very unusual situation. Upload photos of chicks please

Thanks, I read the same review. If I remember correctly, that was a few years ago and the manufacturer installed a gaurd that protects the chicks from the fan. At least, that's the way it looks to me now.lolotsung wrote: ↑Wed Jan 05, 2022 9:25 am@kbr42 I read this in a review. "Hatches well but has a huge design flaw.
