I take the chicks out when dry as long as no one else has pipped, quick open the incubator and take out the hatched chicks. It's true though I wouldn't recommend an inexperienced Hatcher to do this.

Oh My! Today is lockdown, Day 18. Do we keep the temperature at 100 degrees for the next 3 days? We have the humidity at 60%. We filled track 3 and 1 with water on our hovabator.

Fill 1, 2 and 3 on your hovabator it will put the humidity to 63-65. You'll need to add water throught a straw at this point. I don't recommend opening the incubator at this point. You many have some that have started to pip. Remember, keep topping the water up at night because it will drop over night and you don't want them to pip without the humidity being high enough.

Also, it is worth mentioning at this point, it may take 24 hours from pip to hatch, now is the time for patience and let nature take it's course. Enjoy the process...it never gets old!!

I filled up the hovabator tracks about 3/4 full and thought that would be enough for the next few days. I didn't think I needed to add more water. Id didn't even think to use a straw! I have a straw but it's too big. I'm going to have to try and find a smaller one. Thank-you @Kbr42 !

@lolotsung you'll be surprised how much water and thus the humidity changes in a few days. It's good to have a plan on how to add water during lockdown. Hatches can run over the 21 days as well.

When the chicks start to hatch they will boost humidity as well.

I added about 6 inches with a straw (track 4) and the humidity is at 65%...so if it goes higher than 65% should I open up both the little red plastic plugs at the top so it goes back down to 65%? Thanks!

I keep the Hovabator at 100 degrees and 63 to 65% until all chicks are hatched and dry right?

I would never have humidity as high as that 54 ,is my highest, I would reduce humidity if you can. Your humidity is too high.
