I had Hovabators (almost the same) and ran them in a humid basement for years (no water added) and always had decent results (for muscovy ducks, chickens and quail) they were analog and forced air with autoturners. I’d go back to them but now I have a Sportsman (200 egg mini fridge).

Thanks, Baronrenfrew. The one I am getting is a digital, which is the one thing I am nervous about. I hear all kinds of good things about the analog models, but mixed reviews on the digital kind.

What's the model number?
There seems to be a proliferation of these things all of a sudden, and the manufacturers seem to be making adjustments every year, which makes me suspect that the tweaks are based on customer complaints?

:sAng_banghead: Oh. Well. I think it's too late to back out now - I already committed to buying it; delivery tomorrow (along with a freshly processed turkey and four more quail). :hide: At least it won't be a total bust, since quail rails come with it, and the auto egg turner kit.
Are the problems with the digital ones because of inaccurate readings or or because they don't maintain heat consistently?
@Ontario Chick , I think it's the 11300 model, likely purchased early 2017.

I was constantly twiddling the ones I had and I went back to the old type when I got some Stateside. Test it out because it may be OK now. However if not you have the turner and quail rails for it and if you don't like it I'll loan you one of mine to try out.

Thanks, KB, I will give it a shot and see what happens. But not until we have another quail pen built, because our current one will be at capacity as of tomorrow. :-) And you're right, I will still have an auto turner and quail rails so it's not a total bust even it it turns out to be a lemon.

@Jaye I have found that external monitors work best. I never actually believe what the instruments on the incubators are telling me. Sadly, I learned the hard way, now I use these guys on top of my egg turners

They work great and I always know what's going on in my incubator.
I have a Hova Bator Genisis 1588 and an Incuview.
Happy hatching :broodyhen:
