I am not ashamed to admit that I have sometimes slept on the couch by the hatcher.

@KimChick Chick how did your hatch go?
Tomorrow is Day 21, so it is imminent! I am sitting on the edge of my seat and going nowhere tomorrow! Also wondering if any will hatch tonight. Not knowing if the rooster gets around to all the hens, I have no idea how many of the eggs I chose were fertilized. But there have been no rotten smells. This is getting exciting!
I have a cabinet incubator and normally will leave eggs alone up to day 24-25 on a long hatch, eggs always go into the hatcher on day 18, a short quick hatch for me is 21-22 days.

My son who'll be 4 on the 4th of May always helps me candle eggs and he's learnt that when candling if it looks yellow it's a dud and if it looks red/orange it's a baby chick - hope this helps 🙂

That is a nifty candler. I used a suggestion by someone else on PTO to use a flashlight, with duct tape around it, with the rim lined with a cushioning fabric so the eggs don't stick to the rim.

I'm just gonna grab a chair and a coffee and huddle up with ya all around the incubator. I wanna see babies!

Don't get too comfortable or put yourself out; it may be a while. And I'm not sure if or how many out of the 20 will hatch. :rubbingchin:

Well, out of 11 eggs, 9 of mine have just hatched. No pipping in the other 3 eggs yet. But it's day 21...I got time :stars:

Also waiting on eggs... three geese hatched yesterday that I didn't expect until tomorrow, and I'm waiting on chicken eggs that WERE due yesterday...one hatched just a little while ago, 9 more to go but I don't see any more pips yet. I candled all the eggs about 3 am, and all were still alive at that point and air cells looked great, so we'll see.

Looks like this is going to be a long hatch, if any do; Saturday will be Day 25.
Because they are overdue, so to speak, hubby got out his handy dandy Fluke Multimeter and took the average temperature near the top of the eggs, and it turned out to be 102.5 F. So, could it be that the temp. may have been too warm all along?
I've been using the incubator the same as the owner, except for humidity readings.

I have (stolen from DH) 3 Flukes that was overkill! I had them in different spots in the incy and they read different temps all over. 102.5 would be too warm I think. SOmeone else will chip in.

That's what I'm thinking. Also, if I tweek it down a tick, it may be too late anyway.
