so i have 15 Polish eggs that made it to lockdown on Sunday.... 3 pips this morning 1 out 2 hours later.. the other 2 just got out and i can't see really good in there but one little darling has a couple inches of "red slimy tube" hanging out the butt. i have never had this before... the chick is very active but i guess my question is... is this going to turn out OK? i have a couple more pips so there is nothing i can do for now :sad:

Oh man Sue its guna be hard to say for sure until you can take her out. But I wouldnt compromise the rest to get it out right now. Do you remember when I had one hatch without a fully absorbed egg sack? That may be what is going on here but it may just be the umbilical cord. If its just the umbilical cord she will be fine. My chick with the unabsorbed egg sack didnt survive past day 4. I tied it off with thread and cut it off cuz the chick was tripping on it.

Just leave it alone, as long as the other chicks aren't pecking at it. It will be absorbed, dry up and fall off or the chick may just die but attempting to push it back in or tie it off will kill it for sure.

thanks Al... i had one a couple years ago and it had the unabsorbed sac and it didn't survive either but this doesn't look the same that i remember.... keep ya posted

thanks Kenya... i am going to let Nature take her course... i have some more pips so getting her out is not an option anyway,the other 2 chicks are not bothering with it so far

if the remaining shell looks pretty damp, it may not be as bad as it looks.

just got home from work and the runny blood sac was dryed up and is presently stuck to her butt... still very active.... hope it works out, out of the 3 chicks so far of course it is the nicest looking one with the biggest top knot.... figures
