tips for duck hatching??

Post by windwalkingwolf » Thu Oct 27, 2016 5:53 pm

I incubate everything same as I do chicken eggs. Awesome results this year and never added a single drop of water...I use my own thermometers and go by relative room humidity... anything over 44 % works for me, and at 59% I start getting drownings, DIS and swollen feet. Ducks and Muscovy babies start making their own heat towards the end, a LOT of it. Ducks will leave the nest even during hatch, and spend a lot of time just standing over the eggs near the end. So yes, turning the incubator down a degree near the end is not only beneficial but I've found it necessary otherwise my incubator spikes to 40 degrees and stays there. If your incubator has a digital readout, do NOT trust it. Ever.
