Broody shrink wrap!

Post by Killerbunny » Fri Aug 05, 2016 10:21 am

I wanted to post an observation with my latest broody hatch. I know we all struggle with humidity issues but yesterday I went to check on her and she was hatching. I lifted her up because I could see something sticking out and thought it was a dead in shell chick. Not so fast , it wiggled. The membrane had dried even in this humidity and wound around his neck very tightly so he couldn't push out all the way. Quickly cut away the membrane around the neck and he just popped out in my hands. Back to Mum with no ill effects!

Broody shrink wrap!

Phew! Kudos, KB - good thing you went to check when you did, and were able to rescue it in time. When I read the title of your post, I didn't think there would be a happy ending. So weird how even in this humidity that shrink wrapping can happen.
We need pics of the little trooper and Mum.
