Ha! Ha! In training already, good job! Cute babies!

By the way I hardly ever get black chicks just blue and splash, so 50 x 50 for me is way out the window.

But these were Black hens only, so I would have expected more Blacks, also only about 5 good Blues, rest are very light.

I think it was 2014, I put a big blue rooster with horrible red leakage in my layer pen, where the hens are all colours, sometimes all on one bird LOL. I just wanted to get taller layers, I wasn't aiming for anything else. ALL his chicks that I hatched were blue or black, about 75% blue, 25 % black. Killerbunny got various blue chicks from the eggs I gave her, including a blue barred (Dave), and maybe a splash? but I can't recall. ALL my black ones ended up dying--weak, unthrifty, sudden unexplained death. The blue ones are robust, healthy tanks. Weird how things worked out that way. Andy is SO tall, and carries herself like a rooster, that every time I see her out of the corner of my eye, I think Big Blue has gotten loose. Now, if I actually WANTED to breed blue birds, no doubt they'd all turn out brown-rusty-gray as my father used to call a generic, indescribable colour LOL.
I absolutely ADORE your light blue coloured birds, saw some at Doug's several years ago when we were making the Blackie trade. I know they're not considered desirable without the darker blue lacing, but it's a colour I personally much prefer over the 'standard' blue. Like a dark lavender. Have you ever bred the light blue ones together to see what you get? I swear, I'm going to buy some of them from you one day.

Yes Sister is splashish, mostly pale but her daughter from Lucky is a lovely splash pullet and huge! Trying to think of the pullet that went to JimW, I think she was splashish too.
