Shnookie, three chicks is a very small group to jump to any kind of conclusion , so really you should hatch about 50 and the we should discuss it at length ;)
What an enabler!!!! LOL

So this is just to prove my point ;)
Breeding trio of Blue male over Black hens, in theory I should have gotten 50% Black 50% Blue.
What I actually got is - 5 Black and 12 Blues.....
Just heard from a PTO member who got the same eggs as me,his hatch - 8 chicks all Black.
So presumably he got some of my Blacks and I got some of his Blues and if I have incubated all those eggs I would have the promised 50/50 split! :rubbingchin:

10 days and off to the barn brooder...

I think my black hen might be blue, not the rooster. I would never have suspected. Her top feathers are dark black with green, but her fluff is more gray than black. I'm not upset about the extra blue chick, just surprised. After they have a break I might try to hatch some more. Here's a picture of my 14 chicks - 6 are Ameraucana x EO (the all black ones), the rest are pure Ameraucana.

OC when I said I would try to hatch some more, it won't be 50! Here's a better look at the surprise blue one. I have a fur coat with similar coloring!

I don't blame you, from what I can see, it should be a pretty amazing Blue, I know the coat you speak of ;)
Never ceases to amaze me how many different expressions in the Blues.
