Lockdown this morning
Well. I'm pretty happy
16 out of 24 eggs hatched (started with 41 but 17 not fertile)
Still pretty good for 1 rooster with 22 hens!
Yesterday candled remaining 8 eggs.
2 early quitters
2 fully formed chicks dead. Their beak were down about centre of the egg. No internal pip
3 I wasn't sure
1 I thought still had a wee bit of movement
This morning I checked eggs again and heard peeping.
It was pipping on side of egg! So I made hole a bit bigger so it could breathe. Hoping for the best with this little late comer
Last 3 I don't think anything will become of them but now don't want to break them open
Some of my chicks are already 2 days old
I turned temp up on incubator for this hatch by .8 degrees and still a prolonged hatch
The rest of the chicks did hatch quicker and closer together this time
Not sure if next time I should up temp again or leave it. I don't want to cook the eggs. Lol

That project is dead in the water. My swedish flower rooster was a dud. As in, all fiesty to go at it... but then couldn't manage to position properly. He'd been in there 3 months. AND I didn't have another roo.... and Paula didn't have anymore, so I just threw WLLady's two EO roo's in there, and between those, and a few EO girls... is what I will be hatching soon. Good lord... hatch day is the 20th!! I guess I will be candling and locking down soon!!

Wow you did fairly decent Colleen
Me not so much..........8 hatched out of 24 eggs one is still moving in the shell  Not sure if I should crack it and help it??
All were growing when I put them into lock down. I put the incubators back in the basement office after I had the power outage in April (had them in the rec room by the wood stove). Considering the power outage I had a very good hatch. I think the room temperature affected the hatch, sooooo from now on they are going to be placed back in the rec room as it's much warmer there with the dehumidifier going.
I have a broody EO sitting on eggs right now. First time in 7 years that I have one go broody, so figured lets see what she can do

Yes Paula I'm very happy with the results
Unfortunately the last little one that pipped at the side didn't make it
I didn't assist any further. I figured it would be able to get out but never did progress
You second guess yourself to death with that decision. But. Makes you think something was wrong that it was the only one that late and then couldn't hatch on its own
I still feel bad about the poor little bugger though
If you knew it was going to die anyway you'd take the chance of picking it out of the shell
