First Roman baby is here!

Post by Featherduster » Sun Apr 10, 2016 9:27 am

So I put a half doz Tufted Roman goose eggs in my little air circulating "hobivator" and a doz. d'Uccle eggs. Well I have been kinda busy this past month so the eggs got very little done to to them. Other then keeping a half eye on the thermometer I would roll them once a day (maybe... sometimes more sometimes less ) no spraying, no cooling, not much of anything other then topping up the water tray when I found it had dried out. Last night I went to candle the eggs and well, one goose egg was partly open and a baby trying to get out but was on the bottom side of the egg so a bit stuck. I helped get the shell off over the head and it just popped out once it got its head and neck out. So now I have my first roman gosling hatched out and I'm thinking its a girl. I also have d'Uccle eggs hatching out as we speak. :running-chicken: Guess this is the lazy woman's way of hatching. I do have 15 roman eggs just waiting for this weather to break so I can stick them back in the geese nest ( I have 2 geese using the same nest) and let them do all the work !! Still got more roman eggs in the incubator that should be hatching shortly as well. SO EXCITING as I LOVE my roman babies. :stars:

Sorry have not had time to be on much. Work has been crazy busy as I have been working 6 days a week and the only day off is catch up day. I'm on dial up and it takes forever to get pictures uploaded. Waiting on 2 more goose eggs to hatch, one looks like it might tonight/tomorrow as I can see the shadow of the head in the air sack.
