Now that I realize what I've done, I'm going to worry either way!
Don't know HOW the heck I would do lockdown on day 16....#@%*#

BIG THANX Al for the support & advice.
I'm SO damn SICK about it, that I am taking a Nytol & go to bed.
Then I only have a few days left to fret!!!!

It is not an issue.
You will still have a good hatch in nature some moms will lock down early.
Nature is some what forgiving.
Leave them alone and let nature do its thing.

I checked my past posts....I actually loaded the bator March 31 EVENING

There has been alot of Drama at home & I totally screwed up my "Lockdown" day!
I read about Bantam early hatch & did every thing too early - CRAP!

Should I leave the eggs alone & Hope for the best?
( I removed the turner & upped the humidity )
Or maybe just gently roll the eggs?

THIS SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Days 1-7 are the most critical for turning so don't stress, now they are in lockdown, it's best to leave them be until they hatch.

i once forgot to turn on my turner completely. i still had a hatch.....lol.

STOP WORRYING! LOL. (yeah i know i know...it's okay....). Just try to do something else, keep busy, and then check on THURSDAY MORNING. just leave it all alone. the ONLY thing i would watch is that the water tray doesn't go dry. if you don't think it will last until thursday fill it NOW before anything pips (so you don't shrink wrap them) and then back away from the 'bator, go bake something, make bread, clean the house, rake the yard, clean the barn, do ANYTHING except fuss.

you can do it.....and since hatch day 21 is supposed to be the 21 days after lockdown then wednesday you should start seeing pips, and thursday hatch, UNLESS they are delayed at which point i would leave everything in until about tuesday next week.

hang in there......waiting is the hardest part.

Kathy
I think you gave someone else that advice a little over 2 weeks ago?? Lol
I have a question about egg storage
Everyone says turn the 2-3 times per day until you put them in incubator
Why? If hen is laying eggs she goes to her nest once a day to lay another egg until she is ready to set. So really they get turned only once a day if that. Until it's brooding time for her
Thoughts?
Ps. I am turning my eggs once or twice a day to be safe. Just wondered

Day 21 & still waiting for a pip

Post by poultry_admin » Tue Apr 19, 2016 6:05 pm

Colleen,
I had no clue either why twice a day. So I went and looked.

http://www.thepoultrysite.com/articles/ ... hing-eggs/

has a description of egg care before and during hatching. He seems to think once per day is good enough.
There could be a lot of info on that page that's interesting to a lot of people.

Poultryprincess, :farmer: my heart goes out to you, i did the same thing. I forgot to count 21 Full Days and lost my cool at the end of day 20 with no action except a peep. It was end of day 22 when the hatch was done. I forgot to check the time I set them, knowing me it was after lunch so the math works out.

For years I stopped turning at day 14 with no noticeable difference in hatch rate. Its finally getting warm! Fix yourself a pina colada and sit in the sun! Donta worry, man, chicks are on island time! Dey will come when dey will come!

Ron Okimoto, the chicken genetics expert said he never bothered to turn his hatching eggs before incubation and did not notice any difference in the hatches.
