Stupid question of the day
Yes the styrofoam is cut out there. This one is a farm innovators brand. Sorry I wasn't avoiding answering I couldn't remember what it was called. I'd never even heard of them before. Based on my back up thermometer it's holding temps very well in there. I've just cranked the baseboards up to try to warm the room up and we will see if that stabilizes things. There is nowhere stable to move this in the house since we heat with wood stove and baseboards. Every room has a bit of swing to it. For now I will just keep shutting the alarm off when I hear it and ignore it. The good thing is it doesn't wake me up!

Stupid question of the day
Geez I'm so out of it I gave you the wrong name. This is the unit I have.
The room is slowly warming up and humidity is at 35 and holding steady. Will check in another hour when the alarm goes off again lol.
Im off to Google to see if anyone has figured out how to rip this alarm out
Thx everyone for the help!
There's nothing regarding placement. I knew it was important to be in the most stable room which it is...Temps don't fluctuate much in there. I just didn't account for the coolness of that entire level to affect the humidity so much. The room is slowly warming up and humidity is at 35 and holding steady. Will check in another hour when the alarm goes off again lol.

I know what you mean about the alarm, it sets my dogs off. With Emu eggs 30% is what you are supposed to have so thank goodness I can reset it.
