2nd batch Day 7. blood ring??

Post by Colleen Kinzie » Fri Apr 29, 2016 4:05 pm

My 2nd batch have been in incubator for 7 days
Candled Them and 15 of 41 don't look fertile
I'm not surprised because quite a few of these eggs are from my new laying hens. Thought I'd give it a try Maybe not used to the rooster yet?
6 of them are from my white layers that I was unsuccessful with last hatch. Yet they are mating with the rooster. 1 white egg with blood vessels. Oh well
I think I have one with a blood ring?
Need advice on it as I'm not sure what it actually looks like? Yet I know it's different from the rest of fertile ones

Yes that looks like a blood ring from a fertile "early quitter".

I've been calling those blood rings and tossing the eggs. I've found it easier to detect dead stuff from around day 7-10, than I can now, at day 16.
