When you can hear peeping

When you can hear a chick peeping inside egg, does that mean it has made its internal pip?

That would make sense, the chick must be breathing air to do that.

Yes, it's internally pipped and will probably externally pip very soon....it's also a good sign of a nice strong vigorous chick.

I never knew they peeped in the shell until the first time I hatched some eggs. It's exciting to hear.

It's funny because my broody would tell them to be quiet inside the egg if I went near!
