Some of my birds are just staring to lay and the turkeys and ducks aren't laying yet. I just finished separating everyone into breeding pens last week, so I am hoping by the time I start collecting eggs they are all laying well. The ones that are laying have really good fertility, about 95 %. I don't know about hatch rates yet, they are still in the incubator. The first batch I set were bought from other people and the fertility was a bit low at 68 % but the hatch rate was 90 %. It's still early, but I think it's gonna be a good year :)

I had 90% on my goose eggs and 100% on my ameraucana eggs but the incubator had a melt down and I lost all that batch as I had them all in together. I put another small batch of goose eggs in and so far have 8 growing. Not sure out of how many. Not alot. The lastest eggs were left in the nest and will let one of the geese go broody for me. My d'Uccle have gone haywire and pretty much 100% fertility and already have 7 out and 12 more still growing after about 10 days and they really just started to lay. Considering I have not had great luck with my d'Uccle up to this year.

ahhh shoot Feather Duster! whats the secret to incubating goose/duck eggs? is it the spraying of the water? do you incubate at a different temp? iv never had any luck except 2 call ducks last year and they never thrived. I have at least 20 goose eggs in a nest and I know thats way to many for her to hatch... shes not setting yet.

well so far during incubation i have removed 6 eggs from the incubator, all rir with blood rings. so im sitting at 100% fertility. i hope the hatch rate is just as well!

Happy Hatching!
