Recessive Blue in Domestic Ducks

Post by Snyder » Sat Feb 06, 2016 3:14 pm

As some of my research in domestic duck genetics, the recessive blue gene is part of my latest progress. Figured I'd share. The gene is autosomal recessive. It behaves similar to the Lavender gene in chickens, in that it noticably dilutes all colour not just black pigments. I have yet to combine it with other "colour" genes like dominant blue and chocolate. The birds pictured have a genotype of m+/m+, li/li, in addition to the recessive blue gene.
