Didn't even know there were fur farms in Ontario anymore, if you don't mind me asking, are they raising minks?
Perhaps that's where all the two dollar Auction cockerels go to ?

Thanks Al, funny I read Bob's posts on ACE, you would think I would have made the connection ?
I must say I thought all the farmed minks came from China these days, so live and learn :)

Surplus Roosters, what do you do with them?

I just took 5 of my guys that I won't be using for breeding over to our barn...they can eat flies this summer and mice...no girls over there so no fighting. I just can't process any more...I hate it. One of them is 6 and has spent most of his life over there so I figure he can show the young guys the ropes.

OC the Chinese where the main buyers of fur for a number of yrs . AT present the market is in a downward cycle with very low prices . I forgot the most important part of my barter. I get the bottom wire of the cages when rebuilds happen here @ present I have over 100 pcs of 1 by2 weld wire30 inches by 8 ft by 12 gauge makes fantastic pens

That is indeed a great side benefit. :)
I think my impression that there aren't any fur farms in Ontario anymore comes probably from the fact they seem to be laying low, presumably not to attract attention of the "set the minks free crowd"
Also, I must say although in Eastern Ontario one should get one free coyote coat with the CPP or OAS I haven't seen a person wearing a fur coat in a very long time.
