How long should breeding take?

Post by Mcouture87 » Sat Feb 11, 2017 3:06 pm

I just separated my bielefelders from the rest of my flock into their own coop, I have 3 hens and a rooster, just wondering how the breeding process will take

In theory, the second egg that comes out of the oviduct after successful mating should be fertilized.
All depends on how active the rooster is, how receptive the hens are and how good the fertility of the breed is.
Some breeds are highly fertile, others not so much, also different strains will differ.
If you have eggs for breakfast, good time to start examining the blastodisc.

Make sure they were separated from other roosters for a month to be on the safe side!
