Poultryprincess I don't think it's a crap shoot to get paints really and when you get one it's such a nice surprise, I think you should try them!

I wonder what this looks like in a non-silkied chicken. I've got some mutts out there with black splashes that I wonder if they're not actually paint.

Here are a few, I don't have many pictures at the moment. Working on paint naked necks, frizzle/sizzle paints, smooth sizzle paints...lots of feather varieties too. Must admit, I do love my paints <3

For clarification, the frizzled sizzle paint above was growing out...much more developed now...and I think it's a rooster. For once, that's okay! Breed on paint-sizzle!

I can feel the tug of LUV for Paints, they are adorable.

So if I'm going by the chart, it would be best to get "only" Paints!?
From a pair of Paints, I will still end up with Black & White, with only about 50% Paint color.
I'm guessing the Black & white offshoots still breed true to their color.

Poultryprincess, I've found the whites from a paintxpaint breeding aren't as nice as my regular whites, so I stick with paintxblack. But both white and black from a paint breeding will breed true to their colour (from my experience). The paints are still relatively new and need some work, but we're getting there.

Beautiful birds, I still remember when all the craze started and people paid big money for birds without realizing that breeding them right, requires a little bit more effort then just throwing two birds together.
You obviously came up with just the right balance, nice work. :)
