sex linked by coincidence?

Post by Skinny rooster » Fri Sep 23, 2016 12:05 am

Good grief!!! I used to have all three and never thought about this. So if I bred a buff Brahma rooster to light Brahma hens, the daughters would come out buff and the sons would be light?

Skinny rooster you would be able to tell the chicks apart. The girls would be darker orange chick down and the boys would be lighter-because they carry silver. The offspring would not be identical to the other sex parent but would be closer in colour. Hens will pass traits to sons and roosters pass traits to daughters.

Hi All
Thanks for the great input. Thanks WLLady for the great explanation.
Sorry I haven't posted pics until now. Kept forgetting to shoot them.
To put his size in perspective, the rooster is beside ISA Brown hens. The hen is obviously the grey one. The chicks are 17 weeks old. The cockerels need a few more weeks to put on weight. They're still a little too skinny.
