Anyway, everyone seems to be trying to get rid of cockerels..i am no different...trouble in my case is, that its a mixed bunch and all quite nice looking...it might be easier had they been all the same breed...pick the nicest one, freezer camp the rest..simple...not so here, ugh!!...and because the market is flooded they aren't going anywhere too quickly...so i may end up doing the deed, again...shame really...just a sample

They should make nice individual meals no? Looking at my boys one seems lanky and not meaty at all. One I was thinking of keeping tried to jump Mrs Blue this am without so much as a dance! He quickly discovered his mistake LOL!

Yes that's true KB, or I could cook them for the dogs. Trouble is the processor that is closest to me is an hour one way, so basically 4 hours out of my day driving for 3 small birds, not really worth it and I don't do the deed myself, wish I did...........

I think it's only fair to put them out of their misery ;) accept the beauty Wyandotte cockerel at the back of course! :)
My one and only Black Ameraucana pullet has just morphed in to a cockerel this morning, so the Blue to Black outcross was a complete waste of a year of breeding so BBQ it is!

I have neighbours that helped me until I was OK with doing it (still hate it). This year I managed to do my Jake BSW all on my own YAY. I am considering using a processor this year because 11 turkeys is a Lot of work.
