So two votes for 5, I am pretty sure I counted that too, but the fact that pullets also have wattles, makes it little more complicated, if I go by the comb being "Innie" on the pullets, then the dark one is a pullet, BUT I see tiny wattles and it could be a cockerel laying low, as they sometime do in face of too much testosterone ;)
Here they are stealing from a broody under house arrest,

and almost everybody looks like a cockerel again

Only four in that picture, darn
From the front,
Pullet
Cockerel
Pullet
From left to right
Pullet
Cockerel, Cockerel, Cockerel, Cockerel and the Dark one pretty sure Cockerel
at the back,
Pullet
There is a 3 week difference in age, so that complicates things.
I let them in to a hallway since the outside is still too wet, thinking I could get a better look, but they took that opportunity to organize races up and down the hallway and I saw even less then usual.

Yeah there in lies the rub, the middle of the 3 in front is actually a cockerel, the wattles are still very small, but too big for a pullet.
I seriously need to stop counting for a week, while I was counting Wyandottes and not paying any attention to the Ameraucana chicks, it would appear I have one cockerel and one pullet with no muffs, and a real kicker I have never seen before, one has actually grown wattles.
I tell you, give me a breed for a few years and I will come up with most surprising results, without even trying ;)

I see six boys, you guys are just trying to make me feel better I think :)
Although I have sworn I wouldn't count anymore, I find myself counting as I pass the pen, and it was 4 pullets going one way and 8 pullets going the other.
Since I know it's more then 4, because everybody tells me so, and less then 8 because I couldn't be that lucky,
we may as well split the difference..... so shell we say 6???
The final countdown on Sunday!!!!

So I'm going to say that it looks like there are 50 % pullets - hee hee hee
good looking birds Ontario Chick
Final count is in, I declare Poultryprincess Olympic champion of "guessing"
of course I couldn't wait until Sunday..
There are 8 pullets :wee:
and 8 cockerels, and one that looks completely undecided so 50-50 ;)
This seems nothing short of a miracle after last year of 12 cockerels and one pullet.
Almost seems like I will have enough to work with and perhaps sell a trio of Blue Columbians, but I may be getting ahead of myself, just very excited. :)
