Yet another generation of somewhat surprising results, some interesting anomalies, I only hatched 18, but realy wish I had at least 50 to see what else is hiding in there.
Sire (Mactawish partially Blue Columbian, dam Columbian Wyandottes) ....and here is the progeny, so what is your guess on possible colours?

What color are we going to be?
4 black patterned white columbian
2 silver or blue patterned silver columbian
1 will be dark but maybe nicely patterned...
and 2 blue patterned columbian.
LOL. those are my guesses for now. that darker one may be dark blue or black, leaning towards dark blue....

You paint a lovely picture Kathy, I really wish I had been able to hatch more, it really becomes very obvious why you need to hatch larger numbers, ift would be so much clearer of what the actual split is, and what is just a fluke.
I am very fond of the dark one (the fur coat it will be few days before things become a bit clearer.
Darn, wish I had 50

Ohmigoodness.
What I see (but by no means do I know what the heck I am talking about, since I've only recently started deliberately introducing columbian into any breeding project), is:
ONE regular (black) Columbian. Or maybe he's a good dark blue columbian. One of those ones that's hard to tell unless he/she is in *just* the right light.
ONE Blue Columbian.
FIVE, possibly SIX dilute blue columbians, but if I didn't know they carried Columbian, I would swear on anything that they will be splash. ANYthing.
ONE dilute blue Columbian that may have faint blue partridge pattern, and
ONE blue Columbian that will almost definitely have some blue partridge pattern, especially if female. Maybe even a bit of the mossiness that you noted on your outcross last year.
I could be 100 % wrong on all of them, it's going to be fun to see them as they grow!!
And yes, you're right--you should have hatched 50, or better yet, 100 , because ONE (black) Columbian just doesn't add up!

You must hatch nothing less than 100 that way it makes the math easier.
or just go for 200 to confirm the findings of the first batch of 100.

Oh yah sure, now you tell me :)
Scarily enough, I actually see the logic in your statement Doug.....
I have the parents, but the humidity yesterday here was 93% and even with the dehumidifier going 70% was the best I could do in the house so definitely done for the year! just as well, this could be one of those endless projects :smiley-char026:

I could also be 100% wrong! god knows I have been few times before;)
But based on the previous experience you are mostly right ... I think
I could have sworn the light ones were white (little too yellow for Splash)
Accept I actually knew they couldn't be, or could they........
I must say if I could collect 100 eggs in any kind of useful time period I would be sorely tempted,
