Muuust hatch eggs.

Congratulations, that's a pretty good deal for 13$!! Black Giant chicks should be black from top of head down their backs with patches of gray and cream everywhere else. If the chicks are dark blue, they're likely blues. If light blue, they're splash or white.

Muuust hatch eggs.

Post by Skinny rooster » Wed Aug 31, 2016 10:14 pm

Update on the results. So here is the reason why I wouldn't spend too much on hatching eggs. Out of four Wyandott chicks, all four are roosters, out of eight Barred Rock chicks, 7 are roosters, out of 13 Jersey Giants chicks, six hens but five of the six are sickly weak birds and I finally gave up on them and put them down. I sold the good hen for ten. All the time, time, time, feed, bedding, water, electricity etc for one hen. On the other hand my cheap red layer eggs hatched 8 out of 11 with four hens who were strong, healthy and clever, they were sold last week.

Yeah sometimes it just doesn't pay to hatch just for fun, with your own you know the quality you should get. Now you never know how many cockerals you'll get whether yours or someone else's eggs. I've been hatching about 90% cockerals this year so far.
