I heard breed a black male to blue will get nice dark blues and if you breed black male to splash you get nice light blue.. is this true? And if you breed blue to blue you get washed out blue... ?

Wyandotte Breeders
I love the blue colouration in chickens, but have never screwed up the courage to tackle them, as they can be...tricky...lol. I get the odd one by accident or throwback, but don't breed them deliberately. Except when I put Big Blue in with my layers of every colour of the rainbow, and got only blue chicks, but I also class that as accidental :D So I'm going to let someone with more experience in blues answer your questions properly: buuuttt, the short answer to all three of those questions is NO.Rooster Rick wrote:QR_BBPOST I heard breed a black male to blue will get nice dark blues and if you breed black male to splash you get nice light blue.. is this true? Re: Wyandotte Breeders
I see this post hasnt been active in a month or so, have a pair of bantam blacks and getting a pair of silver laced this fall. What is a realistic expectation for fertility in my wyandottes?

Re: Wyandotte Breeders
Realisticaly speaking, there are more breeders of bantam Wyandottes then LF, so my guess would be better then LF, also will depend on the strain and the position of the sun and moon.
Rose comb breeds have inherently lower fertility, so give them plenty of time.
Good luck on your adventure :)
