Have you noticed that when real rir chickens step into the shade, they look black. I am always puzzled for a second when people ask me if I still raise "those beautiful black chickens" then I understand what they mean. Or when people see them for the first time, they always say, "those arn't Rhode island reds" they confuse red sex-links with rirs.

Lol, I know what you mean. It doesn't help when people sell sex links at buy_sell_trades as "pure RIR". One lady was wagging her finger at me, giving me a lecture on the breed, but her purebred roosters were white with red wings, like all male sex links.

and you know what... I apologize again for me jumping in there about the difference with RIR vs NH... but that was exactly my reason for doing that... I think were guna need to start a RIR thread. haha

I breed them, show quality i have good ones,
Good ones are few n far between with all breeds culls have littered the true look of birds all to often u see pets at shows that pple buy at auction as pet quality then try showing them, no negativity is being dished out nor any implications
All birds wether show quality or pet quality are beautiful in there right place
Btw coonhound and gawd great looking chickens
Gawd I raised bantam rir for a shpt4-5 years n should have never sold em truly a beautiful delightful easy breed to keep especially good quality like yours

I remember that New Hamps were bred for "fast feathering" and early maturity. Any comments?
