Silkie breeding plans

Post by kenya » Mon Apr 22, 2019 3:47 pm

So I've started separating my best looking silkies for breeding. Tell me what you think.
This first boy I love because he always stays white white white. That's hard to find with the white birds, I also love his foot feathering, I wish he had a little more tush though. He also has a nice comb.

This blue male has a lovely comb, I wish his wings were a little tighter but it could just be because this was his first day outside. I like the white male a little better.

This little partridge pullet I absolutely love, she is great from any angle. I want to take her to a show to see what the judges think.

Yes it would be fun if you lived closer.
It's funny but sometimes you don't really see them till you take photos. Some just naturally give you a beautiful photo which I think tends to be the better bird. I have another white male and a paint male who are out free ranging getting dirty, not photo ready. I also have a paint showgirl male that I bought last fall , hes lovely but in a molt, no photo shoot there. Also a white showgirl male that I love but seems a little large, will get a photo another day.

I'm on the fence about using the blue male when I see the photos but we will see, hes very personable.
Heres another pullet I love. Didn't take many pictures of her the rest always got in the way. She has a nice beatle green sheen. Nice tight wings.

This was their first nice day outside so everyone has their neck stuck out gawking.

Your birds are lovely.,
I would use the Blue Roo, he is very handsome. So, is your black pullet.

Here are some of Gomer's grow outs from my Jan hatch. The showgirls are lovely...these are my first showgirls..
Pretty sure, I have a Red showgirl roo..

My Red Pyle

And I have no idea what colour he is and I'm pretty sure he's going to be a frizzle roo

And a partridge grow out.

As a non-silkie owner, I like the blue roo and all the pullets. :) Good luck choosing.

Kbr42 Love your red pyle and buff. Especially the red pyle cockeral.
Thanks at Snookie. Yes I will try him and see what he produces thats the only way I'll ever really know if hes any good.
