Icelandic chickens

Post by Blizblaz » Thu Apr 04, 2019 8:42 pm

I’ve been reading a little about Icelandic chickens, and how they’re a landrace breed with no specific standard. They can come in different colours, have different combs, etc.

So my question is, how do you know if you have an Icelandic?

yes, and if you buy birds from someone, how do you know they are "true" and not a mix of a bunch of other breeds? unless you can do a genetic test for that, you have to trust the people you buy from, or you get shafted

Diligently follow the path of two swords as one. Percieve that which the eye cannot see. Seek the truth in all things. Do not engage in useless activity.

Exactly. They look like an interesting breed, and I have a hen who looks just like a photo I saw of one. I assume she’s a mixed breed, but how would you know? I doubt I’ll be doing any genetic testing...
