Pebbles is a poop disturber. She is jealous of Teeny and is always trying to get to me before her. She will also challenge her mother at every opportunity. Pebbles went broody twice this past summer. Pebbles does not like Spanky. I've seen her pecking him to get away from her. She sleeps beside Stewart so I guess that makes her one of the top hens. Pebbles will not back down from a fight even if it's a bird 4 times her size.

Frankie is the biggest of all of my OEGB. She used to be standoffish but she discovered that its warm in my coat and she needs to be nice to me go get in there so she changed her tune. Frankie gets along with everyone. She was my worst and most determined broody last summer and I will need to find a way for her to hatch next year if it's a repeat.

Gracie is the pretty, spoiled girl of the group. She demands that the roosters cater to her and she picks on a couple of the other girls but mostly Teeny. She's one of the tiniest of the girls and one of the noisiest. She likes to hang out with Sherman when she gets the chance because he is the best at finding treats but she is fickle and leaves him quickly if he is splitting attention with another hen.

Honey is the chick that I had to help hatch. You would think she would be grateful but she hates me. She screams if I pick her up. She is the alarm clock of the coop. She lets everyone know when I'm coming to open the doors in the morning. She LOVES Sherman and Sherman loves her. I would put Honey into Sherman's side of the coop but there's two big girls in there that hate Honey and if they got her cornered it would not be a good outcome. So they talk to each other through the wire and have their moments outside together.

Pearl is lowest in the pecking order among the 8 that were raised together. She is a big girl but gets picked on and I always wondered if it was because she's the only white one. She's a quiet girl but she picks on Teeny badly. I think because Teeny is the only one lower than her in the pecking order so Pearl makes sure she stays above her. She is a loner when free ranging and always has been. As a chick I was convinced she was a rooster because I saw her as independant. Pearl went broody twice this summer. Pearl's eggs are rarely fertilized because she screams if a boy comes near her.

The fact that I hardly had any photos to choose from for Lulu says it all. She does not like people and she prefers to go unnoticed. She pecks me if I manage to grab her but she knows that i am also the treat giver so she gets close enough to get her share and I finally have her taking treats from my hand but she always has a look of disgust on her face while doing it 😂. She's a wild child and the other hen to sleep beside Stewart on the top perch.

That's all of them! I did this because people often ask me what this breed is like and I have a hard time answering because they are so different from one another. They were all raised here except Sherman but their personalities are as varied as ours.

That's an awesome collection of birds and the love stories that go with them..i enjoyed the brief reads and great photos..i am truly reluctant to name my birds...i am attached about as much as i dare and naming them would merely throw me over the cliff....i have done the naming thing in the past and oddly enough, virtually every one of those birds are dead...some by my hand on purpose but most by misadventure or sudden natural death...the only one i truly miss is Olive...she was a sweetheart black easter egger and hung around me when i was doing coop duties...so i don't name any more...but Happy, all o can say is wow...thanks for your posts..
