@JimW or anyone else, what colour are your Ayam Cemani eggs?. Some list them listed as white but I've also seen pics of black eggs.

Pretty much maybe $50. I have eaten 8 ayam cemani eggs that last week plus 4 in the fridge .

Looks like I need to fire up the incubator.

I have 2 ayam cemani roosters going to freezer camp tomorrow.

Have you eaten any yet or are these the first ones going to camp? Not sure I could get my head around eating black chicken.

Yes I have eaten a couple culls already. The Ayam cemani breed in Canada is a work in progress very, very, very few birds are the 100% black inside and outside, most a various shades of grey inside. Plus these birds are my culls so not top quality. They are not suitable for breeding, in my eyes and I will not sell a bird I would not keep. So instead of wasting the meat... eat it.

Here is the "cull" ayam cemani rooster I processed today. The Ayam cemani breed is a work in progress, the breed needs to be culled hard and only the best individuals bred. This bird had all black comb and waddles, and a nice upright gamey appearance, but he had silver/grey colour leakage in his feathers. His inside of the mouth and tongue was grey, typical of most cemani available.

As you can see his skin is grey not black, some organs black, some just slightly darker than normal.

Still good eatin' no matter what colour he is.

My culled cockeral vs normal chicken
