Americauna Roosters
Americauna Roosters
I would like to know your thoughts on these Americauna Roosters for free on Kijiji. I am debating whether to get a couple, but I'm unsure if they are true Americauna's or not.

The legs don't look right? I'm sure others will chime in.
What do you want them for?

Re: Americauna Roosters
Americana is the first red flag. Amaraucana is the proper spelling. SOP Ameraucana have slate coloured legs. These look mixed breed/ Easter eggers.

Re: Americauna Roosters
Not only is that not an Ameraucana, it's not an EE, either. It's a picture of a blue laced red Wyandotte, pulled right off the Murray McMurray hatchery website.

Re: Americauna Roosters
ok, thanks guys. I guess that's why they are free. I am interested in getting colored eggs sometime in the future, but I am in no rush. I am not even going to respond to this ad. This happened to me earlier in the year that I got advice from some of you on another ad for these birds. I informed or inquired with the person that they were not what she was claiming them to be and she didn't disagree with me. She blamed it on the place she bought them from and then avoided me after that. Then when she did contact me via email, she informed me they were sold. I was hoping to purchase them, but for EE's and not Americauna's. She was asking too much for them when they weren't pure. I don't want to deal with anyone who is not honest.

Here is another ad and it looks like they have slate colored legs.

Re: Americauna Roosters
That is an EE; the comb is not correct for Ameraucana, but this is ALSO not the ad posters' bird--it's a picture taken off Pinterest. Apparently the chicken owners up your way don't own cameras! LOL! Or maybe it's the same poster as the last ad, and they went web hunting for pictures that kind of looked like their own birds? Shady at worst, misinformation at best.

I've often seen ads that have pictures people have taken from someone else. You have to be cautious.
