Ameraucana-hen or roo???
Ameraucana-hen or roo???
I'm having trouble with this one... it was strutting around like a roo... but it's comb is very pale and not as big as the other boys from the same hatch. I'm torn...
Love to hear your thoughts!
Sorry pictures aren't great with that light!

I say boy too. Hes got his saddle feathers starting to droop, and his tail feathers... same.

Old expression probably everyone knows. You don't know til they crow. Head looks hen, neck feathers look roo.

does it have brick red on ANY feathers near the top of his shoulders? if so it is definitely a boy.

That little dip when his comb joins his beak, looks like a pullet dip, but the comb is taller than I would expect to see in a pullet. I think it's a boy with a really nice, small tight comb. How old is he, and any chance of shots with better lighting? :D

A good way to tell is if its comb is a little redder than the hens, but it stands like a male and looks to have saddle feathers, so I still say boy.
