I know I could google but that only really gives me a list, I would like opinions and thoughts from actual chicken people instead of well...you know.
Thinking of adding white egg layers to my flock but worry about comb size. I appreciate your suggestions and thank you in advance.

well, my best white layers were white leghorns. hands down. little egg producing machines, every day an egg from every girl usually x-large in size. and they were single comb...girls never had an issue with frostbite, but the boys sure did! they had HUGE combs.

I keep light brown leghorns that I got off Coonhound a couple years back. they are the only white egg layers I've ever kept but I am very happy with them. they produce a nice large egg daily. I'v been breeding them for a couple years now and have hatched out these lovely "sports" that are dark brown or black with rose combs but black legs. not sure what to call them but they are also great layers of perfect white eggs. the light brown leghorn is a very pretty bird.

Thanks again man.

yes I tried to get brown rose comb leghorns from Performance Poultry last year but they couldn't full fill the order...might try again this year...they are open for placing orders now!
