2017 Buckeye Cockerel selection
2017 Breed Selecting has begun.
I am so extremely happy with the 2016 breeding year.
Leg colour has improved greatly, combs are look great, Colouring with a rich undercoat is so much more stronger.
I have a few at the Standard Weight...considering they were so small and under weight last year.
Shows so far this year (although, they were extremely young birds with tons of growing to take place)
Westerner Days- Best and Reserve Best of Breed.
Vermillon- Best/ Reserve Best of Breed and Reserve American Class Champion
Millarville-Best/ Reserve Best of Breed and American Class Champion
These standings were from all different birds.
With the SOP in one hand, scale in the other. As well as an extra set of eyes and hands. We narrowed the Cockerels down to 4 keepers with 2 younger birds to grow out till spring. Yes, there was one surprise keeper...that is why it is extremely important to weigh your birds. ( still working on Standard Weights for 2017 breeding year). Had one small flaw but it is something I can over look.

I know I am on the right path....and looking forward to the time when I have a uniform, consistent Standard Bred Flock.
Thanks Bob!

It's great when the work you put in starts to show results.
