Any Idea What My Mutt is Made Of?

Post by Lori » Wed Jul 27, 2016 7:23 am

I got this hen as a ready to lay in the spring from a sale. The people we got her from said their flock was of mixed heritage breeds. This hen is amazing. She is friendly, lays great, just got done hatching some adopted eggs for me, is a great Momma......and even though she's a mutt I love the way she looks. I would like to have a few more like her.....any ideas what breeds might be mixed into her? I thought maybe there was a good amount of Orpington in her, but not sure. She looks large, but her feathers are really fluffy. Any opinions from you experts would be greatly appreciated!

I agree with you about the orpington part, possibly buff orpington. And perhaps some Rhode Island red?
