Poultry Talk Ontario (pto.ca)

This breed is new to us this year--I got it for their winter hardy egg laying. They are pretty goofy. I believe 1 of our girls is Deaf--it is a commotion every morning when everyone flies out of the coop--and she is still sleeping in the corner like nothing has happened! The sleepy one with a likely hearing impairment is Garfield--the other girl is Odie. The girl in the pic is my daughter who is obsessed with #chickenselfies. In fairness, she does have her own summer company business which she posts them, but I am not sure everyone enjoys being in on the selfies! The faverolles are from Performance Poultry.

It will be interesting to see how well they lay eggs.

When I had them they laid well our remaining one has quite laying as she is 7 years old now.

They are an odd bird. I don't overly handle the birds so they are shy....but they are docile which can make them a target. I know it's not just mine. I have read this about them. They make the weirdest noises. Not chicken noises...they sound like 'meeper' from the muppets or like old school beeping video games. That is the best way for me to describe them.

While they can be a target, they will also assert themselves over others lower on the pecking order. And they are smart enough to avoid meaner birds. They are quite humourous to watch. They appear scatter brained. Unfortunately they haven't started laying yet so I can't speak to that yet.

My heart lies with naked necks. But I am also looking forward to the euskal oila batch due to hatch next week!
