Yes you can still collect eggs with no worries. Your eggs may be fertile, but unless you have a broody hen incubate them or you you stick them in an incubator to hatch them, they are still just eggs.

They will also taste the same as unfertilized!

EEs are honestly one of my favourite breeds we raise (especially when you start hatching because of the possibility of random colours and combs) our ee rosters are some of our nicer, more friendly ones :)

You will have a ton of fun watching them, especially if he is a rooster, interactions with the hens are fun to see as he finds a tasty tidbit and calls the girls over.

Fertilized eggs taste the same. We eat them every day. Except one girl. She won't have anything to do with the shenanigans. I think, you know, she walks on the other side of the fence. Wink wink

So he is officially a roo as he has been crowing daily for about a week now. Sadly, i can not keep him, as i have been politely reminded by some surrounding neighbours. I will be returning him to where he came from and bringing back two (for certain, this time!) hens. This will round my small fock off to an even 8... I like the number 12 though... And some variety would be fantastic as well.
Keeping an eye on the classifieds here for anything that catches my eye within a reasonable commute.
I am in the niagara region but travel to hamilton and oakville area many times per week.
Have a great day everyone! Thanks again for you valuable insight.

Looking forward to Poultryfest this weekend! The kids too!✌
