WLLady wrote:QR_BBPOST My only point here was some RIR do have that bar....and it seems to help with deep mahogany colour....and others dont have it. They shouldnt-but since i have both production and heritage and my heritage are much darker it might be interesting to see if the truly dark birds do have. They shouldnt. Sorry for being off topic. Carry on....
I'm not so sure that the dark bar is correlated to better colour. I had a bright orange rooster, he had the best dark bars ever.

Are bars a disqualification for RIR's? If not, though I'd guess you'd lose points if the feather wasn't red all the way down.

Thanks for the lead Kenya!

Well I finally took some pics of one of my breeding pens, these are the green bands. no flash as the batteries were dying on my phone. I'll get pics of my other breeding group tommorow.

Oooooooh ya, that's it, so beautiful!!!! Lol. I didn't know you could have barring? I honestly can't remember what the chicks looked like, I think mine were all reddish orange and not chipmunk. I had a hard time selling chicks and gave up when work was taking up all my days. I really regret doing that because word of mouth is a powerful advertisement that takes a little time, to this day I still get people calling me to ask if I have any. I gave up to soon, there is my lesson for anyone new to breeding who has them right now.
