Day old Barred birds
I've noticed that Frey's has a disclaimer on barred rock sexing...That it isn't as accurate as other breeds. But I think that's because it's one of the only breeds they sell that isn't a cross and sex linked.

Day old Barred birds
Wow how interesting, I never heard that before and I had barred rocks. I wonder if it's the same with pure barred rock bantams? I wouldn't be surprised if it's true because the males have more white. I could tell in a few days because the boys started to get bars on their little wings right away, where the girls had darker wings, almost black with white spots in the first few weeks. Now I want to get barred rocks and try it lol.Happy wrote:QR_BBPOST No I know you can use them for sex linking but that's not what I meant. Here's an example:

I have no clue if it holds true!

Ya I've been worried about that one from day one. She does have a striking resemblance to her mother tho...
. Both parents are barred so I thought boys would be lighter by now

I kinda like the name Squiggy But cant keep a boy!

i think shirley might be a squiggy, although i had a friend back when i played baseball-we called him shirley, so it could fit....
lavern is a gal.....
shirley may be a gal, but if so she's lighter and that comb is redder....and they're the same age...so....um.....i hope i'm wrong!
lavern is a gal.....

Well I think you have a male and female especially if you go by the spots on the head.
