PATIENCE :)
I have been waiting for the fertility to come up to at least 75% before setting Wyandotte eggs this spring,
Finally got there about 2 weeks ago, collected and set eggs last week, looked at my notes from last year and the hatch is going to be within 2 days of last years hatch, which means the fertility took that long to come up last year too.
Otherwise the usual tricks of the trade, trim around the hens vents, don't put too many hens with the rooster and avoid sibling breeding if you can.

Speaking of patience, finally put together my breeding pens, keeping in mind the "work with what you have" motto...
Now the wait starts, they may just be lawn ornaments after all
Columbian pen led by the F3 cockerel (outcross to Blues) Blue Wyandottes, here is hoping :)

You know I will agree with you on that one, so here is the question wise woman, how do I give up one of the varieties?Killerbunny wrote:QR_BBPOST But beautiful lawn ornaments!
This carrying 6 roosters thru last winter is making me re-ases the whole thing.

I'm already concerned that you're selling an incubator you know! Best way is to find someone who will take the flock of one of the varieties and work with it in the same way you have. That way all is not lost and maybe you'll get visitation rights.

If I could find somebody who would work with them, I wouldn't find it that difficult to let go....I thinkKillerbunny wrote:QR_BBPOST I'm already concerned that you're selling an incubator you know! That incubator hasn't been used in 2or3 years and it's seems a waste to have it sitting on the shelf, when somebody could make good use of it, so not that dire yet
