Rooster with Vent Gleet????
Is it possible for a rooster to have vent gleet?
I’m not sure what it is At first I thought worms so dewormed him
Then had him on 5 days of tetracycline
No improvement
I have been soaking in warm epsom salt water
Drying him off and applying antifungal cream
If I don’t soak him and clean him up he gets that he can’t . He did make very loud noises when he pooped when it was all blocked up. Could only get out little bits at a time
Any ideas

I’ll get some if that will help. The dark all around outer edge is scab
@WLLady
Do you put right inside his butt hole or around edges.
The edges are all scabbed over?

It comes with an applicator and when I have prolapse or something i put it right inside. Some type of lubricant such as astroglide natural (kept on hand for egg binding) can work too. This is usually when I find I have run out of gloves! Just be very gentle with him and wash and rdry his cloaca. Poor fella.

Thank you!
Do you think that is the problem with all that scabbing around the outer edge of his vent?

@Colleen Kinzie I just asked a vet tech acquaintance and sent her your pics. She asked what food he was on.

@Happy
Thanks for inquiring for me
He has been on layer pellets ever since he was old enough to stop grower
If I don’t soak him and leave it for a few days it’s as if it hurts to because he sqwauks
Thanks again

don't try to remove the scabs. sometimes bag balm will help soften them. it's possible he strained so hard that he cracked and bled. the prep h I would insert really super gently like mentioned above and apply to the surfaces as gently as you can.
