Avian influenza 2016 updates?

Post by Bobbi » Tue Feb 23, 2016 8:45 am

Looking for some updates on this years situation. I've had about 1000 geese flying over my house the past 3 days so it has spiked my curiosity.

Maybe we can use this post as a update sticky.. If we don't already have one.

    Thanks all.

    Thanks guys.

Al- I had a few snow geese and the rest Canadian flying over. It's a treat to see the snow geese. We plan on getting out there and shooting some for the spring season. We have to get our boat all tuned up though first.

I just read in the new Feather Fancier that the 2 cases in 2015 in Ontario may have been caused by contaminated feed..... corn stored outside on the ground before processing. its thought that the process of making pelleted feed is hot enough to kill the virus while the process to make laymash is not. interesting.

the closest thing to an explanation that I can believe. I kept saying all along that it was not found in the environment since there were no wild birds infected found in Ontario. I still smell a conspiracy though. I wonder and will probably never know the full story.

Ahhaha Ross! you know it. Well all the dots must connect but they dont quite. if it was from the feed it would make sense. id assume it would have been tested but who knows.
